I just got home from a long trip on public transportation to the far reaches of Brooklyn, hadn't eaten lunch yet (it was 3:30 pm already), turned on the computer, went to WFMU, and lo and behold, I see THIS (click picture to enlarge).
I love also how the quote under my owl is:
Rebuking capitalism's conceit that labor is fueled by the profit motive.
This is one of those moments where I'm like, YEAH MAN!!! Where some little manifestation of mine has bubbled up through layers of thick mantle and oozed out through some crack in the crust to be broadcast to the world, if only for a flash moment in time. But best of all, if that flash is through one of my favorite things ever, WFMU! Did you get that?
Other moments like this, and they really are just "moments" because my little owl piece merely joins the infinite other manifestations gurgling across the planet at any given time, are few in number. One of those times was when my drawings got printed on the back of the playlist of the radio station I grew up with in suburban Detroit (lovingly recounted in a previous post). This particular moment did not reach across the world, but as a teenager at the time, it sure felt like it!
And the other moment is when my comic zine Doochisuck was mentioned as one of Ninja Tune recording artist Kid Koala's inspiring and interesting reading materials of 2000 in music mag "The Wire". The WIRE, man! No, not "Wired" but "The Wire". THE WIRE! In their Rewind 2000 issue. I wouldn't have even known if Phil hadn't have happened to pick up that issue of the Wire at Aquarius Records in SF and noticed my name and zine mentioned in its pages. Later that year in Seattle, I was able to thank Kid Koala for that mention at one of his awesome shows.
Ahhhhh, glory days...(cue Bruce Springstein). And many more to come!
What are your glory days? I am curious to hear, feel free to comment.

Anne,
It's nice to see the planets are aligning for you!! I am so happy your artwork is taking off. It's good to be back in the NW where the temp is cool and the sky is gray.
